Meet Françoise: a featured artist at Galerie 16

A self-taught artist whose journey began in childhood, she explored painted furniture, glass and decorative arts before dedicating herself to oil on canvas. Today, she paints daily, finding in the dialogue between subject and brush a deep sense of joy and serenity.

About Françoise

English:

From childhood, she was always drawing — decorating school notebooks and happily creating whenever she could. Although she did not attend fine art school, her artistic path unfolded gradually and with determination.

A journey to Austria sparked her fascination with painted furniture, leading her to restore and transform old pieces. From acrylic to polychrome decoration, from painted furniture to glass, and later to trompe-l’œil, her practice evolved through curiosity and persistence.

At 48, she formally trained in decorative painting in Nantes, later studying portraiture at ENSA in Limoges. The transition from acrylic to oil came naturally, and since then oil on canvas has become her chosen medium.

She paints every day with joy. The dialogue between white canvas, subject, hesitation and concentration brings her a deep serenity — a space of escape and fulfillment discovered through the art of the brush.
