About Raphaël "Pepa"
English:
Raphaël “Pépa” Schillebeeckx, born in Ukkel (Belgium) in 1958, is a musician and painter now based in Melleran, France, where he lives with his wife Sylvie Heyse.
Trained at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp, as well as at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Musician Institute in Hollywood, Raphaël built an extensive international career as a guitarist, composer, producer and professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He has collaborated with numerous renowned artists including Axelle Red, Maurane, Adamo, Selah Sue and Clouseau, contributed to over 150 television programmes and participated in the sale of more than two million albums. He has also published two guitar method books and recorded three instrumental solo albums.
Alongside his musical career, painting has always been present. For his album L.O.L., he created the artwork himself, bringing together his visual and musical worlds.
Since moving to Melleran in 2022, painting has once again become central to his practice. Studying oil painting with Angela Williams, he has developed new techniques and a renewed artistic direction. His recent work explores a more imaginative and expressive universe, notably through his upcoming series Hallucinating Flowers, which will be exhibited in 2026 at several venues including the Château de Javarzay, the Abbaye de Celles-sur-Belle, the Médiathèque de Sauzé-Vaussais and Galerie 16.
